Billericay Lawn Tennis Club

Billericay Lawn Tennis Club is a modern progressive tennis club located in the town of Billericay in Essex. The club has been in existence for over 50 years and is now thriving with over 300 members.

The aim of the club is to provide the facilities for its members and visitors to play and enjoy tennis at a competitive and social level. Billericay LTC prides itself on being a friendly club and welcomes new members, visiting players and guests to enjoy the club’s facilities.

New members are always welcome and are helped to become fully integrated into the club. The club has several different categories of membership to suit a variety of standards and needs, from complete beginners to experienced players. Players new to tennis are encouraged to join the Improvers section.

Billericay LTC moved to the new purpose built ground in July 1997 and now has some of the most modern tennis club facilities in Essex.  We have  a large four-acre site with ample parking, well maintained grounds, a large brick-built clubhouse and 10 tennis courts.

The clubhouse has a  large club room  in which we can hold our social evenings, a bar area with licensed bar and seating, a fully equipped kitchen, changing rooms, showers and toilets. Wheelchair access is provided and a disabled toilet. Other facilities include a table tennis table and various vending machines providing drinks and confectionary.

The club has 7 all-weather artificial grass courts and 3 hard tennis courts. All ten courts are floodlit to County standard illuminations with "white" metal halide lights.

Courts are available to members at all times unless there is coaching or matches taking place. Courts can be booked in advance using the new online court booking system.

For competitive players looking to play matches against other clubs the club can provide plenty of competition in the local and county leagues. There is a very busy match programme running throughout the year. We currently run men’s, ladies and mixed teams in local leagues with men’s and ladies teams in the Essex County league.  In addition to this we also run various teams in the Essex Veterans league as well as a men’s team in the Essex County singles league. In addition, the club enters teams in the Essex Intermediate Cup competitions.

Any new member joining the club as a full member, under 21 or full time student is eligible to represent the tennis club in competitive matches.

Following the Annual General Meeting the Committee meet at least six times in the ensuing year to examine the accounts and arrange the affairs of the Club.

Billericay Lawn Tennis Club runs internal club competitions exclusively for members every year and special events such as American Tournaments are run throughout the year.  These special events will be displayed on the main notice board in the entrance hall and on the website.

In the club Senior Championships the Mens and Ladies Singles competitions have been run since 1956. The Mens, Ladies and Mixed Doubles competitions have been run since 1957. The under-21s competition has been run since 1991. In 2007 two new competitions were introduced for the slightly older but still competitive members of the club. BLTC gained Club Mark accreditation in 2008 and were the third club in Essex to achieve accreditation. Approx 27 clubs in Essex have been awarded Tennis Clubmark status.

Clubmark was introduced by Sport England in 2002 to try and ensure a consistency of best practice and minimum operating standards in accredited clubs, whatever the sport, and to provide a forum to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.

It has been developed to ensure that all clubs awarded Tennis Clubmark:
