Full Member

The Full Member section of the club is formed of members who are able to play at any time.

There are two club social play sessions held during the week.  These are on a Saturday afternoon from 2.30pm and on a Tuesday evening from 7.30pm.  At other times during the week, members can arrange their own play.

There is a very busy match programme running throughout the year. We currently run men’s, ladies and mixed teams in local leagues with men’s and ladies teams in the Essex County league.  In addition to this we also run various teams in the Essex Veterans league as well as a men’s team in the Essex County singles league.

Country

Country Membership is a full membership but is only available to members living beyond a 25-mile radius from the club. Country  members can use the courts at any time.

Midweek Member

The Midweek section is formed of members who are able to play during the day between the hours of 9am - 6pm. It was started just ten years ago and has grown quickly and now has over 70 members. The Midweek section of the Club is very active with social play sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The standard of play is variable but all Midweek Members interplay with each other. Some Midweek Members arrange and play on most other weekdays.

The Midweek section has its own friendly match programme with local clubs which are played from May to September each year with one 'home' match and a return match 'away'. One day tournaments are held throughout the year, although the on-going Summer Tournament is completed with a Finals Day in September when trophies are awarded.

Social functions form a very important part of the Midweek section.  Lunches are held regularly and bring the Midweek Members together to discuss matters arising during the year.  Midweek Members enjoy the social events of the Main Club and also participate in tennis events when invited.  One-off, special events such as the annual trip to the Ladies Tennis Tournament at Eastbourne are also organised.

Visitors

Members are welcome to bring visitors to the club to play and use the club’s facilities. Visitors should be signed in by the club member in the visitors book which is located in the club house lobby. Visitors fees are £3 which should be put in the box in the lobby. No single visitor is allowed to play more than 6 times in any one year.

Student/Intermediate

Students in full time education and juniors who  have matured to intermediate status.

Under 21

Full membership is available to members under 21 years of age in full time employment. Under 21 members can use the courts at any time.

Improvers

To make the club available to all standards of player a new category of membership called Improvers has been created which at a reduced annual fee introduces people to the game with a view for them to progress to either Midweek or Full membership within a year.

The improver category of membership provides full membership to the club including use of all of the facilities and the opportunity to participate in all the social functions.

Improver members are permitted to use the courts at the specified times as follows:

Monday-Friday  1pm – 3.30pm (All courts);

Thursday Evening 7.30pm onwards (Courts 1, 2 & 3)

Sunday Mornings  9am - 1pm (again Courts 2 & 3 plus 1 if available).

The first year’s annual fee includes a six-week introductory coaching session run by one of the club’s coaches which will introduce those new to tennis to the basic tennis strokes and court etiquette.

Social Member

Social members can use the clubhouse facilities at any time but are not entitled to use the tennis facilities. This type of membership is also suitable for members who want to retain their membership to avoid paying a joining fee on re-joining the club.
